March 1st: Dan Fessler, ManorCare

This month, we had the privilege to talk with Dan Fessler. Dan talked to us about his position at ManorCare senior living. ManorCare has a variety of services from a hospital to senior care. They recently had a transition from profit to a not-for-profit. Dan has been in his currently role for 3 years and has been all over the state of Pennsylvania for work. He also mentioned the current state of his facilities with the ongoing pandemic. He mentioned around 80% of his residents are taking the vaccine and around 55-60% of the staff are taking the vaccine. In addition, the number of their COVID-19 cases are going down across all facilities. At the beginning of the pandemic, it was very hard to get ahold of proper PPE, but that is no longer an issue. They are also currently struggling to fill their 75% occupancy mark along with struggling with staffing. Their staff is low and burnt out. Dan was asked about his opinions on Telehealth, and he said he believes it is here to say.
