January 25th: Nate Ashton, Foxdale Village

For this month’s meeting, we heard from a Penn State Health Policy and Administration graduate, Nate Ashton. Nate graduated from Penn State in 2016 and was the former ACHCA club President. He went on to say how happy he was to see how much the club grew since he was a member. Nate currently holds the Executive Assistant position at Foxdale Village, which comes with a variety of responsibilities, and is currently enrolled in an MBA program at the University of Wisconsin Consortium. He went on to discuss his own journey as a former student as well as his own advice for how to succeed in your career. He really emphasized taking in the opportunities given at an internship. Nate went in detail about Foxdale Village and what they have to offer at their campus. At the end of the meeting, we asked Nate about the current

COVID-19 pandemic at Foxdale Village. He told us they were very fortunate to only have a select few cases at their facilities. He discussed some of the staffing, PPE, and cost challenges that come with the Pandemic, as well as their vaccine distribution plan. To end the meeting, we asked Nate if there is anything students can do to help and volunteer at this time, which he then responded saying any IT support for the residents to help them be more social during these troubling times is always helpful.
